I’m a makeup artist and you've been using your fake tan all wrong…it's not for your body

MOST people would think using fake tan is mainly to give your body that sunkissed glow.

But one makeup artist has revealed what it is really great for, and it’s not what you would usually think.

Jordan Cook, a St Moriz in-house tanning expert, has shared that it is all about ‘tantouring’ your face with the products.

It helps to give a more natural look after washing it off the following day.

And he’s not the only one who agrees, makeup artist August Kamarai has also demonstrated the best way to use fake tan on his TikTok.

In the video, August says to first apply petroleum jelly to my hands to protect it from the mouse.

Then he adds: “I mix dark and ultra dark together in the cap and I mix with a blending brush.

“I apply where I would contour with makeup and go under my jaw line

“You want to blend immediately

“You’re going to want to apply and blend, apply and blend.”

August, who was using the St. Moriz Professional Develop Tanning Mousse in Dark, £4.99 from Feel Unique, also adds it onto his lips to make them look “luscious” and then leaves it on overnight but says it “really depends on how you want it.”

Tanning expert Jordan also adds: “It is now more commonly known thanks to viral TikTok trends that you can contour, or TANTOUR, your whole body and face with the ease of self- tan.

“This is easier to do with a guide colour mousse, such as the St. Moriz Advanced Colour Correcting Tanning Mousse Ultra Dark, so you can see exactly where you are applying.

“By adding a little extra colour to these areas you will create an illusion of more prominent features.
