A BEAUTY guru who has tried hundreds of hair products has shared that when it comes to caring for your hair, products aren't as important.
Rather, it's what you do to your hair and how you do it that counts the most.
"Technique is so much more important than what products you're using," beauty expert Kelsey Griffin said in a video.
She listed off five hair care tips she swears by that are completely unrelated to what products you're using.
SHAMPOOING HAIR TWICE
The woman stressed that you need to rinse and repeat when it comes to your locks.
She gave a solid reason why this is the case: "So let's say you're using a smoothing shampoo because you have frizzy hair.
"Well, the first time you shampoo, it's literally only getting all of the [stuff] out of your hair, it's not actually doing any of the smoothing action that it says it's gonna do, because the benefits of the shampoo need clean hair to stick to.
"So the benefits are only gonna come out in the second wash."
SHAMPOO YOUR SCALP ONLY
Griffin said that you should only be shampooing your scalp and not the ends of your hair.
She explained that when you shampoo your scalp and your'e creating suds at the top of your head, when you rinse that out, there will be enough soap traveling to the ends of your hair.

SPLIT YOUR HAIR IN HALF TO RINSE OUT ALL SHAMPOO
When rinsing out the shampoo in your hair, Griffin said that you should section your hair into two, in a way that allows you to rinse both layers of your hair, not just the top.
This will prevent shampoo from getting stuck in the bottom layer of your hair, which would essentially make your hair feel dirtier rather than clean.
MAKE SURE YOUR HAIR IS DRY AS POSSIBLE BEFORE CONDITIONER/HAIR MASK
"After you shampoo, you should be squeezing out as much water as you possibly can out of the ends of your hair, before you apply your mask or conditioner," Griffin stated.

She said that this is because your hair is going to absorb the mask or the conditioner so much better if there's not just a bunch of water sitting on top of it, making the product slide off your hair.
RINSE YOUR HAIR WITH COLD WATER FOR CRAZY SHINE
Griffin advised simply rinsing your hair with ice-cold water for the shiniest tresses.
