AFTER this scorching weekend, it’s safe to say that summer is finally here.
And that means people will be going on day trips to the beach, sipping on their favourite ice tea or cooler on walks and sitting out in their gardens to enjoy the sunshine.
Not everyone’s backyards are up to scratch though and one woman, who was fed up with her crumbling patio, took the plunge to DIY it back into a place of peace.
Taking to the Facebook group ‘DIY On a Budget UK’, she posted before and after photos of the area to show off the transformation.
In the before picture, viewers could see a concrete patio area with two red stripes going down the sides.
She had a rattan double seater chair against the brick house and a matching table nearby.

In the corner, she also had a BBQ set up and surrounding the patio, viewers could see pebbles and patches of grass.
In the after photo, she showed off the finished look as she removed everything from the concrete patio and worked on getting it back into shape.
After painting it all in a light grey colour, she used a stencil to create a white pattern in the middle – keeping a grey outline on the sides.
She then removed all the weeds and patches of grass to replace the pebbles outlining the patio.

And finally, she cleaned the tiles surrounding this.
In the caption, she told viewers: “Before and after of my cheap little patio makeover!
“We had an unusable conservatory in the bungalow we moved into to renovate so pulled it down and it looked an eyesore!
“Spent the weekend giving it a little makeover! Trip to garden centre this weekend for some pots and a new chair and my new chill out area for summer is complete!”
People were left impressed with the transformation and took to the comments section to share their thoughts over her hard work.
“I thought you had used an outdoor rug. It looks lovely. With your new pots & chair it will be very cosy. Enjoy,” one person wrote.
Another chimed: “I thought it was a rug lol, looks great”.
While a third added: “Just noticed they are stencils looks amazing,” to which she responded: “aww thank you, yeh stencils off Amazon, didn’t cost too much for it and was a lot easier than I thought!
“Makes such a difference xx”.
