I asked a friend to give me a dainty tattoo on my ribs – but it's so bad people reckon it looks like ET phoning home

THERE are two types of people in this world – those who spend years agonising over whether or not to get a tattoo and the others who commit to one at a moment's notice.

By her own admission, TikTok user Jessica Williams DEFINITELY falls into the latter category.

Earlier this year, the 20-year-old and her mate decided they "spontaneously" wanted to get tattoos.

In a series of viral videos, Jessica explained: "My friend and I tend to do a lot of things out of impulse because that's just how we are and it makes for great stories."

After asking around for recommendations, the women were told about a mutual friend does inkings at his house – which Jessica now understands was "red flag number one".

She explained: "He showed us some of his work. His girl was there and she had her whole body covered in tattoos he did and they weren't bad.

"He also tattooed himself and they weren't bad."

Happy to go ahead with the tattoo, Jessica showed him a picture of the small dainty inking she wanted on her ribs – featuring two hands reaching out to each other.

But while the tattoo was inspired by Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam, people reckon what Jessica ended up with looked more like a scene out of 80s cult classic E.T.

She added: "He put the stencil on, it looked great. It was what I wanted.

"But when I looked down when it was finished, that wasn't the stencil… at all."

Unfortunately for Jessica, the left hand resembled a claw more than anything while the index finger on the right looked bizarrely wobbly.

Needless to say, users couldn't get over how bad the tattoo turned out.

One replied: "I’ve never done a tattoo in my life but I genuinely think I could do better."

Another added: "I've seen jail tats better than that…"

And while a third said it reminded them of "ET phone home”, Jessica replied: "That’s what I call it too."

Unsurprisingly, Jessica went to a proper tattoo parlour the next day to look into having it covered up.

She explained: "The new tattoo artist told me that from the way it looked, the [mutual friend] pressed way too hard for it to be on my rib cage which was going to make it harder for him to cover up."

Once it had healed a bit, Jessica returned a week later to have a flower inked over the hands.

Urging others not to make her mistake, she added: "Lesson learned – go to a shop!"
