In the cover photo on Time Magazine, Meghan Markle appeared front and centre staring straight into the camera, with Prince Harry standing just behind his wife, with his hand on her shoulder. Royal commentator Camilla Tominey appeared on This Morning with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby to discuss Harry and Meghan’s photoshoot. Camilla likened the cover photo to a scene where Meghan had just got her hair done, and Harry looked like her hairdresser.
She said: “What made me laugh about this is my best friend sent me a message and I think someone had tweeted that this photograph reminded them of going to the hairdresser and having the male hairdresser stand behind you and say: ‘Are you happy with this blowdry?'”
Phil and Holly erupted into laughter as they struggled to keep their giggles contained.
Camilla continued: “Meghan has so much hair and Prince Harry is behind her and she looks like the dominant force in that image.”
Simon McCoy also burst into laughter on GB News over Harry and Meghan, saying: “Looks like her hairdresser!”
Twitter user Mary Grant agreed, adding: “Meghan is well and truly running the show.
“Poor old Harry looks like her butler, or hairdresser – just having a little peep at the camera.”
Meghan’s hair was styled by Serge Normant for the Time Magazine photos, who is one of the leading hairstylists in the fashion industry today.
Her hair was massive and wavy, which definitely made a strong impact in the pictures. Serge Normant also styled Meghan’s hair for her royal wedding in 2018 to Prince Harry.
The makeup artist Linda Hay created Meghan Markle’s look for the magazine.
The photos have been criticised by some who believe them to be heavily airbrushed.
Discussing the latest headlines on This Morning, Phillip Schofield said: “Body experts have gone as far to say that Meghan looks powerful in the photo, while Harry looks emasculated.”
Holly replied: “Oh that’s so unfair, I think it’s unfair.”
Phillip continued: “No matter what they do, they’re going to get battered.”
“Yeah I agree,” Holly added, “And we all can’t talk, every single one of us does it on our own Instagram, everyone’s sticking filters over everything.”
The photo showed Meghan Markle in a white shirt paired with white pleated trousers and gold jewellery, while Prince Harry contrasted in a totally black outfit.
Meghan’s trousers appear to be Victoria Beckham Pleated Wool Wide Leg Trousers in white, which can be purchased for £615 from Nordstrom.
The Duchess wore two new ‘pinky rings’ on her left hand.
The rings are from Shiffon, called the ‘Duet Pinky Ring’, and sells at £759 for the set of two.
The ring is also sold individually for £380.
Crafted from 14-carat gold and set with a tiny diamond beside a larger one, the adjustable style “represents one woman supporting another through a ‘pinky promise,’” according to the brand’s website.
The company also donates 50 percent of its profits to fund female entrepreneurs, with 11 companies funded to date.
On Meghan’s right hand, the ‘pinky ring’ she is wearing is her emerald cut diamond ring from Lorraine Schwartz.
The ring was first seen in the 2020 TIME100 photos.
Once again Meghan is wearing the gold Cartier Tank watch, which once belonged to Princess Diana, and the Cartier ‘Love’ bracelet as well as her Jennifer Meyer 18-carat gold bezel tennis bracelet for £2,171.
