Zalando takes an acute streetwear focus with the launch of a new channel intent on pioneering the next generation of streetwear talent. Adopting an inclusive tone that will evoke a strong communal edge, you can expect to read in-depth interviews, see style-affirming content and visual offerings all led by upcoming talent from the worlds of fashion, culture and communities.
Celebrating the themes of community and style, Zalando Street makes its debut with a visual new digital magazine featuring Art Director Jean Jacques N’djoli. The Paris-based creative is known for his impeccable taste but it turns out dressing really well isn’t the only thing he’s good at.
In the debut issue of Zalando Street’s digi-zine, N’djoli is speaking about his lifelong passion for basketball and how the power of the courtside community in inner-city Paris keeps him focussed.
Photographed inside the oldest court in Paris, alongside members of Paris’ Pigalle community (an iconic spot for Basketball) N’djoli wants to spread the message about why safe spaces for any type of sports are so important across the world, especially for youth culture. This youth culture is what keeps Paris, and N’djoli himself, at the forefront of the fashion world, always innovating, never settling. A quality he recognizes in basketball as well.
“It’s the concept of evolution that helped me in basketball,” he explains “The more I played, the better I got. That evolution was my form of motivation.”
Releasing monthly, each issue will shine a light on new streetwear communities that are growing around the world. Be sure to follow @zalando_street on Instagram to make sure you don’t miss out and check out the retailer’s website for more information.
