Watch Brent Faiyaz’s Quentin Tarantino-Inspired “Jackie Brown” Music Video

Brent Faiyaz’s “Jackie Brown” was not only a fan favorite from his sophomore album Wasteland but also a driving force behind the entire project. During the making of the LP, Faiyaz was so inspired by Quentin Tarantino’s 1997 crime drama of the same name that he chose to lift it for one of his own tracks.

“I was watching a lot of Tarantino films,” the singer told Vogue last year. “I was watching Jackie Brown over and over again. I was also watching Vanilla Sky on repeat. I pulled a lot from that.”

A music video for the single has now arrived and serves to recreate the swanky ‘90s vibes of the influential film. Directed by Lonewolf & Mark Peaced, the visual kicks off with Faiyaz on a red-hued flight. After touching down, he hops into a car and immediately heads to the hair salon for a refresh.

“Only been a few hours, but it felt like days / Only been days, but it felt like months,” he sings in the chorus. “I been gone for a year, only wrote like once / Life move fast when you doing what you want.”

Wasteland debuted on streaming services in July 2022, following 2020’s F*ck The World. The 19-track project featured appearances from DJ Dahi, Tyler the Creator, Alicia Keys, Drake, The Neptunes and more.
