Little Simz Performance at the BRIT Awards 2022
There was little doubt in our minds that Little Simz would wow us at the 2022 BRIT Awards — but she managed, once again, to exceed our expectations. The British rapper took to the stage with a two-part performance featuring a surprise cameo by Emma Corrin, returning later to accept the award for Best New Artist.
Little Simz started her captivating performance literally raised up by dancers, emerging from underneath a fabric sheet while singing her smash hit “Introvert”. Emma Corrin took to the stage to read part of their narration on Simz’s album “Sometimes I Might Be Introvert,” sealing the performance’s deal as one of our favourite’s of the night. “The Crown” actor, who narrates five interludes on the album, shared their moving words while sporting an ethereal custom Harris Reed ensemble, complete with a wonderfully oversized circular headpiece.
Switching up the tempo, Simz returned to the stage (having stripped off her leather raincoat to reveal a ’70s-style suit, complete with oversized feather cuffs) to perform her single “Woman.” Her dancers donned similarly bold suits, bringing the same energy from the song’s music video to the stage.
In response to the surprise appearance, fans tweeted, “I wasn’t expecting Emma to be at the BRITs, omg!” and “Emma Corrin and Little Simz, legendary duo IMO.” Legendary, indeed. We knew from the album that we were fans of this duo, but their power on stage was unparalleled.
