Viewers of The One Show were left cringing beyond belief when magicians Penn & Teller rocked up to perform a trick… which didn’t go so smoothly.
The US performers joined hosts Roman Kemp and Angelic Bell to promote their upcoming tour, with their segment, of course, starting with a card trick.
Roman and Angellica appeared baffled when they met Penn & Teller backstage, only to find them gorging on very messy burgers.
The TV icons continued to stuff their faces, instructing Angellica to take over and handle the deck of cards and perform the trick herself with their guidance.
Now, the food was clearly part of the trick, but things got awkward very quickly.
The trick started with Angellica picking a card out of the deck and memorising it before placing it back in and shuffling them up randomly.
Without touching the cards, the idea was that Penn (given that Teller doesn’t speak publicly) would be able to tell Angellica where abouts her card was, leading to utter amazement when the reveal happened.
However, as Teller held up the number 14 on his sauce-covered hands to instruct Angellica to count 14 down in the deck, well, it was meant to be a pretty straightforward task.
Except, Angellica messed the counting up.
And she picked the wrong card out – which wasn’t hers.
Not once, but twice.
Yes, it was as cringe as it sounds.
It was then down to Penn to tell Angellica that she’d counted too far down and that her card was, in fact, the one above the one she pulled out.
‘You counted too far down and missed it!’, Roman mocked, as Angellica burst into laughter.
Both Roman and Angellica were still very impressed, though, while Penn & Teller kept their cool because, well, it’s all in a day’s work!
It’s safe to say viewers weren’t as excited though.
