Reservoir Teams up With Labelnoir for Its Second Comic-Inspired Watch Starring 'Popeye'

Following the release of its first iconic comic-inspired timepiece featuring Blake & Mortimer, Reservoir has teamed up with LabelNoir for a limited-edition watch starring Popeye the Sailor Man.

Arriving in Reservoir’s usual fashion, the piece is outfitted with a 41.5mm titanium case in an understated, satin-finish gray DLC. Similar to the Blake & Mortimer By Jove piece, the dial stars the rough and tough sailor at the center, while his extended arm performs the same function as the minute hand. The usual hour markers have also been replaced with Arabic numbers in intervals of ten to signal running minutes, meanwhile, the window at the six o’clock mark provides the hour reading.

Unlike Popeye, this watch doesn’t run on spinaches — it’s configured with Reservoir’s in-house automatic RSV-240 calibre to power the retrograde minute and jumping hour display for up to 56 hours of power reserve. The movement is partially visible through the watch’s open caseback, where a glass-painted Popeye motif adorns its center.

Although this special-edition timepiece isn’t explicitly a sports watch, it encapsulates the character’s readiness for action with a dark and sleek build, while also being capable of withstanding up to 5 ATM of water resistance.

Released in a limited run of 200 units, the Reservoir x LabelNoir x Popeye watch retails for $4,450 USD and is currently available via the brand’s official website as well as its authorized retailers.
