Photographs by Sinna Nasseri
For most people who set foot on it, the Oscars red (or in this case, champagne-colored) carpet is the highly choreographed, giddy culmination of months of strategizing, hobnobbing, speechifying and celebrating — like election night with better fashion.
Nominees spend countless hours in makeup chairs and then in each others’ orbit, including at parties the night before, while also keenly aware that they are in competition.
By the end of the night, that happy tension fizzles out. But for those brief moments, it sparks — as captured in these interactions by the roving photographer Sinna Nasseri, who was on the scene on Sunday. — MELENA RYZIK
