Building on the viral response of its “Stupid or Genius” campaign, Oscar Mayer is introducing the first-ever hot dog-flavored ice pop. Dubbed the “Cold Dog,” the hot dog is the latest in the Kraft Heinz Company brand’s exploration of “the wonderfully odd ways to enjoy the iconic wiener beyond grilling.”
The Cold Dog was created in partnership with Popbar, the premium frozen desserts company known for handcrafted gelato on-a-stick offerings. Sure to put your tastebuds through a unique experience, the hot dog-flavored ice pop boasts both refreshing and smokey, umami notes of Oscar Mayer’s iconic wiener, topped with a swirl of “mustard.”
“After the overwhelming fan excitement for our beloved Cold Dog, it was a no-brainer to make this hot dog-inspired frozen pop a reality,” said Anne Field, Head of North American Brand Communications, Oscar Mayer. “For more than 130 years, Oscar Mayer has been sparking smiles and bringing levity into everyday moments, and we are thrilled to bring fans another wonderfully odd way to enjoy our iconic wiener while beating the summer heat.”
Priced at $2 USD, Oscar Mayer’s Cold Dog is available now at select Popbar locations in Long Beach, New York City, Atlanta, and New Orleans, while supplies last. Also, Oscar Mayer’s iconic 27-foot hot dog on wheels, the Wienermobiler, will be reimagined as a frozen pop truck with frosted windows, icicle-inspired decorations, and more, as it makes its way through summertime destinations in NYC and the Jersey Shore now through August 27.
