The New Balance 990v1 may not have the same allure today as say the 990v2 or 990v3, but back in 1982, the OG silhouette was hailed as top of its class in the running category. As a connoisseur when it comes to all things heritage, Teddy Santis has been tinkering with the sportswear brand’s storied history when he undertook the role of creative director at New Balance in 2021.
Having dropped a rustic “Tan and Green” colorway in January, Santis and New Balance are set to release a similarly verdant iteration that reflects the changing of the seasons. The latest sneaker in the MADE in USA line features a bit of a St. Patrick’s Day vibe as the upper is doused in various greens and constructed with a premium mix of mesh, suede, and leather. The timeless off-white tongue and sockliner is complemented by red New Balance branding, as well as a punchy yellow “N” logo adorning the base.
Additional highlights include subtle branding on the heel counter and a comfy ENCAP cushioned sole. For those looking to purchase, the New Balance 990v1 MADE in USA “Green/Yellow” will be available for $190 USD at New Balance and select retailers on March 30.
In related news, New Balance 990v6 appears with a simple “Navy/Grey” makeover.
