McLaren has unveiled some of its most intricate bespoke livery to date, via the “3-7-59 Theme” 750S, a continued celebration of its 60-year anniversary, paying homage to its historic Triple Crown victories.
First shown at the Velocity Invitational in California, the livery, crafted by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), required over 1200 hours of work. It commemorates McLaren’s triumphs at the Indianapolis 500, the Monaco Grand Prix, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Notably, the presentation was graced by Lando Norris, a current McLaren F1 driver, Pato O’Ward from McLaren IndyCar and former McLaren F1 driver Derek Bell, alongside Michael McDonagh, Director of MSO and Motorsport at McLaren Automotive.
The 3-7-59 Theme signifies the race numbers of the victorious McLarens, namely, 3 from the 1974 Indy 500, 7 from the 1984 Monaco Grand Prix, and 59 from the 1995 Le Mans. The theme integrates these elements into a collage of more than 20 colors to create its exterior.
McLaren notes that each of the six examples, which are already sold at the time of writing, will be a unique variation of the 3-7-59 Theme and that customers can also choose between a 750S coupe or Spider — making each a truly unique collectible.
“As we celebrate the 60th anniversary of McLaren being founded, we of course reflect on our legacy of pushing boundaries, both in motorsport and more recently in supercar and hypercar excellence. The 3-7-59 Theme takes inspiration from both of these areas, as a showcase of extreme performance that pays tribute to our Triple Crown success. The most challenging project ever delivered by McLaren Special Operations is a truly stunning expression of McLaren’s industry-leading paint expertise, on a supercar that sets a new benchmark in its class,” shared McLaren CEO Michael Leiters.
The interior of the vehicle is also filled with bespoke nods to the brand’s illustrious racing heritage, with a special Triple Crown logo stitched to the headrests and etched graphite Alcantara. Other notable details include artwork on the doorsills, pedals and a unique dedication plaque that adds to the exclusivity of the vehicle.
