Madonna in intensive care after being found unresponsive as tour postponed

Madonna has postponed her tour after falling seriously ill.

The chart-topper has been in intensive care after contracting a ‘serious bacterial infection’ and being ‘found unresponsive’.

She had contracted the infection on June 24, and while her health is now ‘improving’ she is still ‘under medical care.’

Her daughter, Lourdes Leon, 26, was reportedly by her side throughout the ordeal.

It is expected the musician, 64, will make a full recovery, however her planned tour is being postponed.

Her manager confirmed the news in a statement, writing: ‘On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several day stay in the ICU.

‘Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.

‘At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour.

‘We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.’

A source told Page Six that the star had been found ‘unresponsive’ and rushed to hospital, where she was intubated for at least one night, but is now alert and recovering.

Meanwhile, the Mirror reported that Lourdes remained by her famous mum’s side while she was intubated.

Madonna is also parents to Rocco, 22, David, 17, Mercy, 17, and twins Stella and Estere, 10.

The celebrated artist’s Celebration tour had been due to kick off in July, starting in Canada.

She was then set to play multiple nights in London in October ad December, as well as dates across Europe and North America.

It comes days after the star released new song Vulgar, a collaboration with Britain’s Sam Smith, 31, which has been soaring up the charts.

Madonna is one of the biggest names in music since smashing onto the scene with her debut album in 1983, and has since gone on to produce megahits including Like A Virgin, Like A Prayer and Hung Up.

Celebrating her incredible career, in January she invited her followers to ‘join the party’ as she announced the Madonna Celebration Tour with a special video surrounded by celebrities including Jack Black and Amy Schumer.

The Celebration Tour marks the first tour from the pop legend since she reached four decades in the entertainment industry.
