Made In Chelsea star's baby dies aged two after heartbreaking cancer battle

Made In Chelsea star Diego Bivero-Volpe and director/actor Charlotte Carroll have announced the tragic death of their young daughter Aurelia.

Aurelia died aged two after being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia – a cancer which affects white blood cells – in September.

They shared the heartbreaking news on GoFundMe, which had previously been set up to help fund her treatment.

The parents wrote: ‘Dear friends and loved ones, It is with a heavy heart that I write to inform you of our darling Aurelia’s passing. Our little girl went in peace surrounded by loved ones and in the loving embrace of her mother and I.

‘In true Aurelia fashion, she left us not with a cry but with a big beautiful smile – frolicking fearlessly onto her next adventure. As we support her through to that next journey wherever that may be, her light continues to guide us through ours, shining bright with her characteristic joy and love.’

They continued: ‘Aurelia will always be the warrior Charlotte and I admire the most. Anyone that met her was constantly in awe of her resilience, intelligence, beauty and good cheer even through the toughest of times.

‘Thanks in no small part to your incredible support, we were able to fight alongside her to provide her the most possible time and comfort. Our thanks and admiration for the contributions made here are boundless. Without them, the armies of doctors, nurses, healers, therapists, specialists and researchers that saw to her care would not have been possible.’

They then concluded: ‘With the greatest of thanks and love, Charlotte & Diego’

The post was shared on August 14, with a walk in celebration of her life planned for three days later. Over £200,000 had been raised for Aurelia in hopes of getting treatment abroad. Any funds will now be donated to Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.

Charlotte, who has endometriosis, used her director role for a personal project and documented her struggles to conceive Aurelia in a film called The Topic.

Diego, who appeared on Made In Chelsea in 2011, and Charlotte continued to share updates after Aurelia was born, and when she sadly was diagnosed with the rare cancer.

In July they wrote: ‘Alongside fighting the very aggressive cancer, she is having to re-learn to use her limbs, her mouth, her eyes, let alone to walk or play… all in service of reestablishing her baseline to make her *eligible* for the bone marrow transplant which awaits her’.

Aurelia also had chemotherapy and her proud parents wrote: ‘Aurelia is moving mountains, fighting like an ox, breathing the fire of healing and surprising all her doctors every day with her resilience and strength’.
