Leica has lifted the veil on its latest timepiece, the ZM 1 Gold Limited Edition.
The exclusive watch offers a tribute to the brand’s first golden-edition camera — the IA Luxus, which was introduced in 1929 — with a prestigious mix of gold and titanium. Specifically, the dual-metal case is crafted with an 18k gold 4N and high-strength Grade 5 Titanium, a material that is notable for its strength in the aero and automotive domains.
The ZM 1 Gold’s dial features a special color grade that produces a “sunburst effect” that’s made possible by an expert brushing technique. The indices and the hands mirror the case’s golden color with a galvanized finish. Behind its luxe facade, the watch operates on the Leica Calibre LH-100 1 movement, which was assembled by hand in Germany’s Black Forest, where Lehmann Präzision manufacturers put the timepiece through a strict five-axis regulation test.
The design is finished with a strap made from alligator leather that was sourced from a certified farm in the U.S. and naturally tanned at an Italian tannery. The timepiece fastens across the wrist with a butterfly buckle, made from identical 18k gold 4N.
The Leica ZM 1 Gold Limited Edition will be capped at just 50 units, and it will be available exclusively through private appointments at select Leica stores. The watch’s recommended retail price will be £24,000.00 GBP including VAT. See the design in the gallery above.
