While sneaker-themed footwear for dogs is now commonplace, Marcus Floyd of “Horse Kicks” is looking to help horses become certified sneakerheads. Utilizing the “deconstruction and reconstruction” skills he learned at The Shoe Surgeon’s SRGN Academy, the Lexington, Kentucky-based shoe artist makes custom reimagined sneakers for the domesticated, one-toed, hoofed mammals.
For the launch of his brand, Floyd has readied several pre-made styles for the Fall 2022 season. Standout creations are inspired by the fragment design x Air Jordan 1 High, Air Jordan 1 High “Court Purple,” adidas YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 “Dazzling Blue,” and Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 650 “Green.”
Priced at $1,200 USD, custom footwear can be ordered on the Horse Kicks website starting October 24, with 10 percent of sales donated to Sneaker Ball Lex and its charities. Horse Kicks will also be holding a pop-up at this year’s Breeders’ Cup World Championships in Kentucky, November 4-5. The Sneaker Ball Lex charity event will also see the Fall 2022 collection on display and auctioned off November 12.
