Following a collaboration with Heaven by Marc Jacobs, British footwear brand Dr. Martens serves up a new “City Pack” capturing the essence of four iconic cities — New York, London, Tokyo, and Los Angeles. The upcoming introductions rework Dr. Martens 1461 Oxford silhouette with thematic color blocking, lettering, and custom hardware.
Kicking off the collection is the 1461 “New York,” found in a mix of smooth yellow and black leathers as a nod to the city’s taxis. A Big Apple graphic is printed on the backstrap and an “NYC” lace charm is fixed on the speckled laces. The 1461 “Los Angeles” pairs arrive with all-over graphic prints of a quintessential California sunset featuring rows of palm trees and dreamy purple and orange hues. Gothic “L” and “A” lettering is printed on the back and a black metallic lace charm is secured to the laces.
The 1461 “Tokyo” features a monochrome design inspired by the world’s busiest crosswalk, Shibuya Crossing. The two-tone aesthetic mimics parallel lines across black pavement with white split toe box overlays, contrast stitching, hook eyelets, and “Stop” and “Go” heel lettering. Rounding out the assortment is the 1461 “London” crafted in shades of black and grey reflecting the hues of the city’s architecture. A map of London is printed on the sock liner and double yellow lines are incorporated on the heel strap.
The Dr. Martens SS22 City Pack pairs are now available on Dr. Martens’ website and at select retailers for $140 USD.
Elsewhere in footwear, Paraboot and All Triangles deliver MLB-inspired Michael Derbys.
