It has only been a few months since Avatar’s long-awaited sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, was released in December of 2022. Now, Disney has unveiled the first official look at concept art for the franchise’s next film, Avatar 3.
The new images offer a never before seen look at other parts of Pandora. From frosty mountains to a cascading volcano and even a hot desert, the images reveal how environmentally diverse the planet of Pandora is. With the reveal of different environments, the images hint at the inclusion of different groups such as the “ash people.” The recent sequel saw protagonists Neytiri (played by Zoë Saldana) and Jake Sully (played by Jake Worthington) go to great lengths to protect their family and culture – mirroring sentiments of the debut blockbuster.
Avatar 3 is set to arrive in December of 2024, which is a much quicker turnaround than the franchise’s sequel. Although the plot is yet to be revealed, we can expect James Cameron’s next film to entail some enhanced world-building.
