Denzel Washington has officially confirmed that the third installment of The Equalizer series is currently in progress.
In a recent interview with Collider, the actor revealed that the pieces are falling in order for the third film with director Antoine Fuqua agreeing to make a return to the franchise. Washington confirms,
“They have written the third Equalizer, so I’m scheduled to do that. So I gotta get in shape and start beating people up again. I get to beat people up again. The Tragedy Of Macbeth and then going and beating some people up. Can’t get any better, right?”
The Equalizer 3 will see Washington reprise his role as Robert McCall, the ex-Marine and special operative turned vigilante. The last time he portrayed the character was almost four years ago in the second The Equalizer. The first film was originally released in 2014, which saw Washington’s character, McCall go through great lengths to protect a teenage prostitute from the Russian mafia. The follow-up film followed McCall as he sought revenge for the murder of his close friend.
There is currently no release date for The Equalizer 3.
