After dropping its over $2K MTN Bike and linking up with PORTER for a shoulder bag capsule, design agency and product maker JJJJound is looking to strike up some noise this October by beefing up its footwear collaborations portfolio. Following up on its three-pronged Old Skool Mid range with Vans, the Justin Saunders-led entity is reuniting with New Balance to produce an understated take atop the 990v4.
The shoes were first teased by the Montreal-based imprint at the end of August, but we now have an up-close look at all of the shoes’ details. The upper build is formatted with soft mesh underlays and smooth suede overlays, both of which are dyed in a dark navy hue. Arriving alongside this tone are solid black accents that distribute themselves to the flecked toggle laces, “N” logos, toe box overlays, midsoles and the American flag furnishings that are slapped onto the tongues. “990” branding is situated on the lateral heels in tonal fashion and the insoles are adorned with “JJJJound” spell outs in angelic font.
The JJJJound x New Balance 990v4 “Navy” is expected to drop sometime during the second week of October 2021 so keep an eye on the brand’s website and/or IG to learn of its official launch date.
