Citizen is dedicating two new limited-edition Promaster Dive watches for the iconic Japanese Kaiju, Godzilla. Nicknamed “Ecozilla” – a portmanteau of Citizen’s Eco-Drive and Godzilla – the timepieces are presented in a ruggedly designed case, measuring 48.2mm in diameter.
Doused in a sleek black, the references’ case, dial, and bezel all feature a special camouflage pattern, which is actually inspired by the post-apocalyptic monster’s scaly façade. Upon closer inspection, one may notice the miniature Godzilla motifs that are incorporated into the pattern’s design. One version features a black dial, while the other dons a dark red color.
Fulfilling its Promaster Dive and diving watch nature, the limited timepieces are equipped to withstand up to 300 meters underwater. Running on the B873 caliber, the time-tellers are capable of running up to 6 months continuously thanks to its Eco-Drive technology.
On the back of the watch case is an engraved design starring the Kaiju’s footprint, which is accompanied by a unique batch number as proof of its limited availability. Both versions of the watch are paired with environmentally friendly Polyurethane straps, which are partly made with biomass-derived materials.
Set for a worldwide release in early 2024, the timepieces will serve to celebrate the iconic franchise’s 70th anniversary. The Promaster Godzilla watches will be released in limited editions of 2,500 units and 3,000 pieces respectively, with both iterations retailing for $900 USD each via Citizen.
Elsewhere in watches, ochs und junior re-releases the selene nebra as a time-limited edition.
