Charaf Tajer‘s Casablanca label has returned with its Fall/Winter 2021 tailoring collection, continuing the Monte-Carlo influence from its mainline collection. A particular reference point is the city’s famous casinos, with the mix of gamblers, tycoons and racing drivers that visit.
Referencing that theme, Casablanca nods to playing cards by incorporating a diamond shape across the collection, ranging from a diamond print on the cropped harlequin suit jacket and trousers, to diamond-shaped buttons on the suiting.
Elsewhere, Casablanca has also showcased bold colors and luxurious fabrics. Highlights include the bright green suit, cut from a silk-blend fabric produced using an artisanal weaving technique, as well as items made from Australian merino yarns in “Alaskan Blue,” “Candlelight Peach” and “Persimmon.” All of the suiting is certified in line with Casablanca’s work with The Woolmark Company.
Launching the tailoring collection, founder Tajer said:
“Tailoring for us is extremely important. Part of our creative process has always been to take classic elements of fashion and applying our modern take on them. For us, the challenge and pleasure of making a suit is bringing it into the modern world through the lens of Casablanca.
Shooting this campaign in a building designed by architect Carlo Scarpa was a dream come true, the way he took an impossible, almost untouchable city and left a modern imprint is comparative to the way we design.”
