Byredo and OJAS Use Speaker Design Theory to Create Innovative Room Diffuser

Byredo has unveiled an all-new room diffuser, taking advantage of audio technology and speaker design theory to craft the BYOJ-01 Biradial Controlled Directivity Scent Dispersion Device — also known as Olfactive Stéréophonique. The new item has been designed by Byredo’s Ben Gorham in collaboration with Devon Turnbull, founder of speaker label OJAS, and is built on their mutual love for music listening as a ritualistic practice.

The room diffuser is designed using the same principles that are the basis of speaker design, creating a device that can distribute smell more efficiently. These theories are also referenced in how the diffuser looks, which brings to mind an industrial-style speaker.

The device also arrives with an exclusive new Byredo scent, titled the “Olfactive Pyramid.” This fragrance mixes a headof clove buds, bay and incense, with a heart of ylana, carnation and labdanum, and a base of papyrus, Haiti vetiver and guaiac wood.

The device is available now exclusively from the Byredo web store and select flagships, priced at €950 EUR (approximately $1075 USD).
