Balenciaga‘s Track Sneaker has well and truly been through a midlife reinvention not once, not even twice, but so many times it’s appeared in its original guise, Track.2 form, as a sandal, a mule, a sculptural object, a hiking boot, and a furry style too — and the list goes on. Now, Demna‘s footwear team has readied the sneaker’s latest evolution, presenting the Track.3.
For this third installment, Balenciaga goes heavy with the distressing — something that has yet to appear frequently on this style. A mesh base is overlayed with nylon panels in the style of leather and suede, often appearing with a chrome tone to it, notably on the blue, pink, and beige styles. As for the black colorway, the mesh and nylon is more muted, hiding the distressed details better than its colorful counterparts.
The blue iteration best shows the distressing, which incorporates everything from faux rips in the nylon on the toe guard to worn-out Balenciaga branding on the mudguard, well-worn details on the chunky midsole, and a quite simply beat-up toe component. This is echoed on the beige pair, while the women’s pink offering is less overtly aged.
All of the signature Balenciaga cues grace the new Track.3, from the “Track” branding on the heel tab to “BB” embossing on the toe cap, sizing on the toe box, and more Balenciaga branding on the tongue.
Currently, pairs are available on a pre-order basis, but you can expect them to drop in stores very soon. Prices in the U.K. are £625 GBP and it’s $895 USD in the United States.
