Taylor Swift fans raise thousands for fan killed after Houston concert

Jacob Charles Lewis was struck by a drunk driver on his way home from a Taylor Swift concert on Friday and was pronounced dead at the scene at just 20.

As reported by Rolling Stone, Jacob had been attending the Houston gig with his sister Abigail Bancroft.

A GoFundMe has been set up by his friends in a bid to raise money for flowers and funeral costs.

The response has been overwhelming, with the campaign already hitting $123,459 in donations.

Many fans donated $13 or $113, a nod to Tayllor’s lucky number 13.

His sister, Abigail has since taken to Twitter to share her thanks for the overwhelming support.

She wrote: “I cannot express the overwhelming gratitude from every Swiftie out there.

“Thank you thank you thank you. I will get to your messages eventually if I haven’t already, your words have inspired me through my day so much.”

Abigail’s car had become disabled, leaving Lewis to get out of the vehicle and push it along the shoulder towards the exit.

It was reported that then the car and Lewis were struck by Alan Bryant Hayes, 34.

Lewis died at the scene, with his sister suffering minor bruises and scrapes.

Police confirm that Hayes fled the scene after the incident.

Since his arrest, Bryant has been charged with failure to stop and render aid and other charges are possible, police said.

Lewis was taking a gap year from Sam Houston State University to work and was expecting to return in the Fall as a sophomore majoring in musical theatre, according to his father.

The 20-year-old also loved listening to music, playing music and competing in the Pokemon World Championships.
