Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Neil Jones has taken to Instagram to share a reflection in a cryptic post today. The 39-year-old bluntly admitted he “doesn’t really care” what others think.
In a picture shared with his 241,000 followers, Neil penned: “When I was 20 I really cared what everyone thought.
“Now I’m almost 40 don’t really care what you think.
“When I’m 60 I will realise no one was ever thinking about me in the first place.” (sic)
Following the end of last year’s series of Strictly, Neil reflected on his journey on the programme in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk.
He had partnered up with former EastEnders actress Nina Wadia during the competition for the coveted Glitterball Trophy.
However, they became the first dance couple to leave the series after being eliminated.
Responding to “fix” claims, Neil said: “I think that there’s no need. It’s all down to the audience.”
He went on: “The audience pick who they want to go through.
“So, I always say when the audience turning around saying it’s fixed or anything like that. It’s like the choices in their hands.
“When we went home, it’s because they didn’t vote.
“Every year if you want someone to stay, vote for them.
“If they want someone to win this weekend, vote for them. It’s all in their hands.”
While he admitted he was “gutted”, Neil also highlighted that he understood the programme had its ups and downs each year.
He said: “It’s one of those things. It’s part of the show that somebody has to go home.
“I had the great run with Alex Scott when we went to the quarter-finals.”
Neil went on: “But this year, we were the first couple out.
“But I enjoyed the short time I had with Nina.
“I was dancing with her again as we get ready for the final.”
“And so, for me, it’s part of the show. So, it’s okay, that’s how it is,” he continued.
“I was gutted for Nina because I thought it would be nice if she could do a few more dances.”
