Ruth Langsford says she ‘would consider’ This Morning return after Holly Willoughby’s exit

TV presenter Ruth Langsford said she would “consider” a return to This Morning, following the abrupt exit from Holly Willoughby earlier this month.

Holly took to Instagram on Tuesday, 10 October, to share a shock statement that said she was leaving after 14 years and "will not be returning."

Holly's statement began: “I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning. To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so much. This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we’ve done together."

Since Holly’s departure, a number of other This Morning hosts have stood in her place, including Alison Hammond, Josie Gibson and Rochelle Humes.

Now former This Morning host Ruth Langsford has said she would “consider” returning, although she said reports that the show wants her back “aren’t true”.

Ruth told Woman&Home: “I love This Morning but reports that ITV have recently asked me back aren’t true. I laughed when I saw that report. I have no idea where these things come from. It’s like when people write a nasty comment on my Instagram, I find it amusing."

She continued: “If they asked me, I would certainly consider it. I did a week with Rylan last year and I wasn’t torn because of Eamonn’s situation.

"Eamonn has left ITV, it’s done and dusted. He’s got another job, which he loves. Also, I don’t have to ask Eamonn’s permission to do anything, or for him me, so if ITV said, ‘Would you come and do a week on This Morning?’ and if I was free and it was with the right person, I probably would do it.”

The TV presenter also added that she would love to do her own “Sunday night chat show” and her own “clothing range”.

Ruth and her husband, Eamonn had a regular Friday slot on This Morning and covered for Phil and Holly during the school holidays from 2006.

However, in 2021, they were replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary on Fridays but stayed as holiday cover.

Just a year later, Eamonn left for a new job on GB news. He has since criticised ITV on a number of occasions.

Ruth decided to stay with ITV as a panellist on Loose Women.
