Ricky Gervais, 60, hopes to live long enough to see ‘woke’ generation cancelled by the next one
Ricky Gervais wants to live long enough to see the young people of today called out by the next generation.
The comedian, 60, is a vocal critic of cancel culture and is unimpressed by ‘snowflakes’ or ‘woke’ people who are easily offended, and see older people as having outdated views.
He told neuroscientist Sam Harris on the Absolutely Mental podcast: ‘I wanna live long enough to see the younger generation not be woke enough for the next generation.

‘It’s going to happen. Don’t they realise that, it’s like, they’re next. That’s what’s funny.
‘We kicked out the old guard. We did it. There’s only so woke and liberal you can get and then you start going the other way. But it’s inevitable.’
Sam went on to say progressiveness is not necessarily generational and people will always criticise each other’s opinions.

Ricky has previously slammed cancel culture, even saying he thinks he will be cancelled due to his comedy in the future.
He previously said on an episode of the SmartLess podcast: ‘You don’t know what the world’s going to be like in 10 years time.
‘You can get cancelled for things you said 10 years ago because you don’t know what it’s going to be like in 10 years time.’
The news comes as it emerged Ricky is to go down in history by getting his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The funnyman will receive the honour for his contribution to the entertainment industry over the last 20 years.
The actor’s Netflix show Afterlife has been the most watched British sitcom on the streaming service of the last two years and he has also won an impressive 25 Emmy Awards, 11 Baftas and nine Golden Globes.
In addition to Ricky, the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2022 includes includes actor Michael B. Jordan, 34, Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin, 41, pop star Avril Lavigne, 37, actor Ewan McGregor, 50, late actress Carrie Fisher, who died in 2016 and was known for playing Princess Leia in Star Wars, and DJ Khaled, 45.
