I thought this would happen! Reportedly, Princess Beatrice checked into the hospital on Friday, and at some point over the weekend, she gave birth to a baby girl. Buckingham Palace sat on the news for nearly 48 hours, which is pretty interesting given the absolute meltdown from the British media in 2019, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex didn’t update anyone in the press about Archie’s birth for several hours. Where’s the outrage with Beatrice? It’s not that I actually want people to be outraged, it’s that I want consistency and a retroactive apology for the Sussexes for how they were treated when Meghan was immediately postpartum. Anyway, there’s no name yet but it sounds like Beatrice is doing okay.
Princess Beatrice, granddaughter to Queen Elizabeth II and eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, welcomed her first child with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, a baby girl, Buckingham Palace announced Monday.
The newest member of the British royal family was born Saturday just before midnight local time at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London – a different location from other royal births. She weighs 6 pounds and 2 ounces, per the palace.
“The new baby’s grandparents and great-grandparents have all been informed and are delighted with the news,” a release from the palace said. “The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care.”
This is the royal couple’s first child together, who will be eleventh in line to the British throne. Mozzi, CEO of architecture/design studio Banda Property, is also father to a young son from a previous relationship with American architect and designer Dara Huang.
“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well, and the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother Christopher Woolf,” the palace said.

I think it’s interesting that the York princesses handled their birth announcements somewhat differently. Eugenie has her own Instagram, and she updated her IG with the news in conjunction with the palace. Beatrice’s life seems much more managed by Buckingham Palace, from her wedding to the release of her wedding photos to all of the pregnancy and baby announcements.
It doesn’t seem like Andrew actually did leave Balmoral to visit his older daughter and his first granddaughter? Which sucks for Beatrice, I bet she would have loved having her dad there. I’m not being shady, both of the York princesses are very close to their dad.
So, what will the name be? This should be fun. I bet Bea is definitely considering Elizabeth for a first name. “Sarah” might be in there. Victoria? Alice? I hope they go more Italian, for Edo’s side of the family though. Elizabeth Arabella!
