Prince Harry ‘wants mediator to mend relationship’ with brother William amid feud

Prince Harry was reportedly interested in using a mediator to mend his fractured relationship with his brother William – with whom he was once known to share a close bond.

The brothers' relationship has seemingly been strained since the arrival of Harry's now-wife Meghan Markle came onto the scene back in 2018.

Harry, 37, and Meghan, 41, announced their plans to quit as senior members of the royal family in early 2020 and they subsequently moved to a sprawling mansion in Montecito, California, where they now live with son Archie, 3, and daughter Lilibet, 15 months.

Earlier this year, royal expert Katie Nicholl told how Prince Harry was "ready to mend his relationship" with his brother, prior to the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June, however, he might "need a mediator".

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight . Katie said: "Harry, I'm told, suggested perhaps that they might get some sort of a mediator in on sort of these talks, to make some progress."

"It was something that he had suggested to his father. He's made it very clear that he wants to sort things out. He wants things to be improved."

"I'm hearing that he wants to be over here for the queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June. I think, possibly, that suggestion of a mediator is probably less the relationship with his father, because his father is open to wanting to sort things out," she said.

"I would imagine it's more to do with his brother. I would imagine that that idea of wanting a mediator is probably more to do with him and William. His relationship, really, is at a bit of a crossroads. We have been told for many months now that they're not close at the moment. It has been very, very difficult."

It seems that, despite Katie's claims, there has been no thawing of the ice between the two brothers, especially since the ongoing fallout from some of the claims Harry and Meghan made about the royal family during their infamous 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Whilst Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Charles and Camilla were on hand to support the 96 year old Queen during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, Harry and Meghan were only publicly present for the Service of Thanksgiving on 3 June.

They were not sat anywhere near Prince William and Kate, and the foursome – previously known as the "Fab Four" – were not seen to engage with each other in public and are not believed to have done so behind closed doors.

No doubt some of Meghan's claims in her new bombshell interview with The Cut will have further caused tensions after she said: "Just by existing, we were upsetting the dynamic of the hierarchy. So we go, 'Okay, fine, let’s get out of here. Happy to,' ".

Harry and Meghan have just touched down in the UK with plenty of public engagements organised, but it's not thought likely that Harry and William will reunite whilst he's here.
