The release date of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's upcoming Netflix docuseries has been revealed, with show insiders claiming the series will be released by the streaming giant next week on 8 December.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly tried to push back the documentary's release to 2023, and were said to have wanted to make edits to the show following the Queen ’s death in September.
It currently remains unclear if this edits were made.
Netflix bosses were also said to be second guessing the documentary following backlash against season five of royal drama The Crown over its lack of historical accuracy.
However, Page Six have now revealed that the show is set to drop on Netflix on 8 December.
According to the outlet the docuseries was originally titled Chapters. Although the Duke and Duchess are said to have changed their mind on this, with the actual title not yet made public.
The series will focus on the couple's "love story" and will release prior to Harry's highly-anticipated memoir, Spare.
The book promises to delve into the details of Harry's life, told from his perspective.
The title is no doubt a reference to the saying "heir and the spare", referring to his brother Prince William, 40, being the heir to the British throne, and Harry, 38, being the "spare" prince.
Publishers Penguin Random House have confirmed that the tell-all book will be released on 10 January, and that it will take "readers immediately back to one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. "
The publisher continued: "As Diana, Princess of Wales, was laid to rest, billions wondered what the princes must be thinking and feeling – and how their lives would play out from that point on. For Harry, this is his story at last.
"With its raw, unflinching honesty, Spare is a landmark publication full of insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief."
The release of the Netflix docuseries and memoir is causing concern within the royal family with King Charles said to be prepared to strip the couple of their titles if these prove damaging to the royals.
Tom Bower, author of royal books Rebel Prince and Revenge, told the The Megyn Kelly Show: “He has made various threats to Meghan and Harry and warned that them if they go ahead they will find themselves ostracised in a way they cannot believe. And so they are worried."
He added: “First of all, I do not think their children will get titles if they go ahead and slander the Royal Family.
"But they have also got to consider their own titles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, could be taken away by Charles if they misbehave."
