Paddy McGuinness’ wife Christine McGuinness was rushed to hospital with a split chin after a lift with her presenter husband went badly wrong. The blonde-haired star told how she and her Top Gear beau, 48, attempted to recreate the iconic lift from the 1987 film Dirty Dancing while on holiday in Spain but instead saw her rushed to hospital with an injury.

The star, 33, told how she and Paddy wanted to recreate the lift by Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey in the final scenes of the film.

However, the stunt went badly wrong.

Instead, the mother-of-three ended up hitting the bottom of the swimming pool and injuring her chin.

Recalling the incident in her new memoir, A Beautiful Nightmare, Christine said: “He lifted me up and I sort of went over to go into the water and I cut my chin open at the bottom of the swimming pool.”

She added that the rest of her holiday didn’t go to plan as she was forced to rest.

Christine went on: “Then I had to go to the hospital and get stitches on the first day.

“After that, I couldn’t go into the water or sunbathe.

“I just wanted to be in Dirty Dancing and I b****y cut my chin open,” she lamented.

Christine explained how the incident occurred during one of her and Paddy’s first holidays away together after his career started to take off as a host on Take Me Out.

The Real Full Monty star’s admission comes as Paddy is recovering after undergoing an operation on his knee after he sustained an injury last year.

Last week, Paddy gave an update on his recovery at home while sharing a snap of his leg resting on a sofa to his 563,300 Twitter followers.

The TV star wrote: “The auld knee is slowly getting better.

“Hired this machine to help keep the swelling down.

“If you’ve had the same knee surgery (lateral meniscus tear) this really helps.

“B****y freezing though! #weekend” he ended the post.

Paddy’s update comes after he underwent an operation on his knee after suffering an injury last year which forced him to pull out of Soccer Aid 2021.

Speaking about her husband’s recovery, Christine insisted that the TV host is on the mend.

She told OK! magazine: “He’s absolutely fine.

“He’s milking it, obviously, he’s a man, and he’s got to try and rest as much as possible.

“It’s an old injury and he’s just been waiting for some time off work to get it sorted, and he has done now, so he’s absolutely fine,” she explained.
