Nick Carter wrestles with grief over late brother Aaron in heartbreaking new song, plus more news

Nick Carter sings about anger, darkness and brotherly love

Nick Carter is channeling his grief over his brother’s death into music.  On Wednesday (Jan. 10), the Backstreet Boys singer released a moving new single about Aaron Carter, who died on Nov. 5, 2022, at age 34 after battling addiction and mental health problems for years. “Always hoped your tomorrows/Would be better than the days before,” Nick sings on “Hurts to Love You,” which People reports he co-wrote. “I hoped you’d find your road to follow/To a place you were happy in this world.” Sharing the track on Instagram, Nick, 42, wrote, “We all have someone in our lives that no matter what they do and how bad it hurts, you still love them. So I worked it out the best way I know how.”

Nick and Aaron’s relationship was tumultuous at times, with Nick being granted a restraining order against his brother in the wake of Aaron’s 2019 DUI arrest.

“Miss you with all my heart, you know I always will/I always prayed for peace my soul could feel,” Nick sings on the new ballad. “It’s hard to let go of the anger/I know for me it took some time/Sometimes the darkness lasts forever/Feels like the light won’t ever shine.”

Twitter reacts to Colin Farrell’s Ana de Armas praise at the Golden Globes

“Is Colin Farrell trying to pick up Ana de Armas on this stage? Respect #2023GoldenGlobes.” So said one Golden Globes viewer on Twitter on Tuesday (Jan. 10), after the gushing praise Colin bestowed upon Ana as he accepted his award at the ceremony. Colin snagged the award for best actor in a motion picture, musical or comedy, for his work on Globes frontrunner “The Banshees of Inisherin.” But he spent more than a little time focused on Ana, who presented his award and was nominated for a best actress Globe herself for her turn as Marilyn Monroe in “Blonde.”

“I just thought you were extraordinary,” Colin, 46, told the 34-year-old Cuba-born star (via Cosmo). “I cried myself to sleep the night I saw your film, ‘Blonde.’ I cried myself to sleep,” he said. “One thing had to do with the music that played at the moment where the shot opens and just seeing her ankles at the edge of the bed. It messed me up so bad.” As audience members giggled audibly at his adulation, he told the room his comments were “not a joke, but you’re welcome to laugh,” adding, “It’s not my place to say what’s appropriate laughter in this world.”

The whole exchange seemed to delight Colin’s fans on Twitter. “Colin Farrell is like us all,” one user wrote. “He had one clear shot at Ana de Armas and he took it/did his best. Respect.”

Jennifer Coolidge follows up first Golden Globes win with SAG Awards nod

Jennifer Coolidge is having a pretty amazing 2023 — and we’re barely into January. On Tuesday (Jan. 10), “The White Lotus” star won her first Golden Globe and delivered a speech that left the show’s creator, Mike White, in tears, and roused the audience to its feet for a standing ovation. Less than 12 hours later, when SAG-AFTRA announced the nominees for the 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards, Jennifer’s work on “The White Lotus” earned her another chance at an awards season “first,” courtesy of her nomination for outstanding performance by a female actor in a drama series. (Though she’s been nominated twice, the “American Pie” and “Legally Blonde” alum has yet to win a SAG Award.)

“I had such big dreams and expectations as a younger person but what happened was they get sort of fizzled by life,” Jennifer said at one point in her speech at the Globes on Tuesday. “Mike White, you have given me hope for — just, you’ve given me a new beginning,” she gushed, addressing “The White Lotus” creator directly. “He really is one of the greatest people I’ve ever met … You make people want to live longer and I didn’t,” she said. The 2023 SAG Awards will be held in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 26.

What’s next for Todd and Julie Chrisley after bail request was denied

“Chrisley Knows Best” stars Todd and Julie Chrisley must report to federal prison on Tuesday (Jan. 17), as planned, after the reality stars’ motion for bail pending appeal was denied this week, according to court documents viewed by People. Their request to extend their surrender date by 21 days was also reportedly denied. The USA Network stars have said they’re appealing their convictions, which include bank fraud, tax fraud, conspiracy to commit bank fraud and conspiracy to defraud the United States. Both stars will report to prison in Florida, with Todd, 53, slated to ride out his 12-year sentence at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola, while Julie, 50, is headed for Federal Correctional Institution and Federal Prison Camp Marianna for her seven-year sentence. Both institutions are relatively cushy, CNN reported last month.

“Their trial was marred by serious and repeated errors, including the government lying to jurors about what taxes the couple paid,” attorney Alex Little told People after the Chrisleys’ sentencing in November. “Based on these issues, we are optimistic about the road ahead.”

Speaking to fans on their “Chrisley Confessions” podcast that same month, Julie said, “We have to live every day as if it’s our last.”

Sunny Hostin reveals she underwent plastic surgery in 2022

Sunny Hostin revealed this week that she underwent a breast reduction and lift and liposuction procedures in 2022. “I feel like a better version of myself,” “The View” host tells People, calling the move “a health decision and a self-care decision” she made after decades of battling back pain and body image issues. “I thought I would feel shame, like, ‘Oh my God, I’m doing plastic surgery like all these crazy celebrities.’ But I don’t feel shame at all,” Sunny said. “And I hope sharing my story will help more people. If they’re feeling so body-conscious, the way I was — they can do what they need to do to feel better.”

Reflecting on her path to surgery, the star recalled being a “double-D” cup “by the time I was 16.” After becoming a mom, her chest size increased again. And when she signed onto “The View,” full-time in 2016, she started wearing “a minimizer bra and a sports bra or a binder all the time” on the show, she said. Finally, after struggling to fit into her dress for the 2022 White House Correspondents’ Dinner — she wrapped her chest in masking tape and didn’t eat at the event, she said — Sunny decided to make a change and went under the knife in August.
