Martin Roberts has broken down in tears over his dilemma with what to do with his dad's ashes, after he passed away in March, aged 90.
Homes under the Hammer star Martin, 56, took to Instagram to post an emotional video where he told his followers that he didn't know what to do with the rest of his dad's ashes after they "didn't fit" in the box he had, with the intention of burying them next to his mother.
The former I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! celeb described the post as being "dark humour" as he explained the situation, as he said he was heading to Warrington where lots of his dad's family are from, "to bury the ashes in the place where my mum is buried".
He then told how a "good friend of mine has made a beautiful box, which is fantastic," before showing the bag of his dad's ashes, which he said he needed to transfer into the smaller wooden box.
Martin then showed his dad's ashes in the wooden box, as he ran a hand through his hair, and said: "The box is already full. I mean, if it wasn't so terrible, I'd be crying right now."
"It's a weird one. My mum and dad would be absolutely wetting themselves laughing at this point. So maybe I'll ask them what to do, I will say a little prayer."
Martin then asked: "What do I do? I've got to bury dad's ashes with mum because that's what he wanted. But the box… is full?"
His followers flooded the comments section as they gave him suggestions on what to do in his predicament.
One said: "Scatter some in your garden at home and plant a beautiful tree [love heart] so you don't have to go to warrington. x"
Another wrote: "How about spread the rest of his ashes around the grave of your mum in a circle .. so he’s not only hurried with her but he’ll be giving a big hug/ cuddle/ snuggle to your mum for all eternity. X".
A few days later, Martin took to Instagram once again to post a video as he thanked his followers for their suggestions.
In the caption, he wrote: "We buried Dad’s ashes yesterday. Thank you so much for all your love, kind words and suggestions on what to do with the ashes that wouldn’t fit in the casket. Something truly wonderful happened in the end."
As he spoke to the camera, he explained: "We put the casket in the bottom and then I decided I'd get everybody who was there, who wanted to, to scatter the rest of the remains, from a plastic bag, around, as lots of you had suggested.
"So that's what we did."
He said he also found his mum's ashes in the grave, 20 years after she died, which he decided to mix with his dads, so they are "forever entwined."
