Lorraine Kelly discusses meeting fans with her husband
Lorraine Kelly, 61, has revealed her husband Steve Smith was left feeling very confused after the couple bumped into some of her fans during an outing. The star recently gushed over how viewers of her self-titled ITV show tend to “trust her and talk to her”.
However, Lorraine also admitted her other half was slightly baffled due to the nature of her conversation with her fans and presumed they were family friends.
The presenter explained: “That’s a huge thing that they’ll trust me to tell me things about their life and talk to me.
“I mean it’s hilarious, when I’m with my husband and maybe we’re in the supermarket or just walking down the street.
“All in the days when you could go out, you know walking about, and people come up to me and chat away and I chat away to them, and then they go away.

“And he says, ‘How do we know them? I have no idea who they were!’ And I say ‘No, no, no, that’s just someone who’s watched me on the telly!’”
Sharing her husband’s relieved reaction that he hadn’t accidentally snubbed one of their friends, she added: “‘Oh my goodness, thank goodness,’ he said. ‘I thought it was a really good mate and I’d completely forgotten their name!’”
Lorraine went on to say that the funny moment she shared with her husband proves that her viewers feel like they know her, just from watching her ITV show.
She continued: “It’s lovely, people come up and they think they know me, well they do know me because they’ve been watching me.
“But that’s really nice when people come and chat to you as if you’re a pal.
“I think that is the biggest, huge, compliment, it’s just so nice,” Lorraine added while chatting on The Expert Agency’s Expert Minutes Podcast.
Elsewhere, Lorraine was recently quizzed by an eagle-eyed viewer on why she wasn’t wearing her wedding ring.
The star explained she decided against wearing her ring on the show at the beginning of this month for a practical reason.

The daytime TV host said that she has to “wash her hands” frequently while filming and has removed her jewellery to prevent losing any precious items.
She shared the explanation after a viewer typed: “Notice Lorraine isn’t wearing her wedding rings?”
Lorraine responded: “I wash my hands so often I’ve kept my rings off so I don’t lose them.xxx.”
Lorraine has been married to husband Steve since 1992.
The couple share daughter, Rosie Smith, 25, who lived and worked in Singapore.
The TV star has often spoken about her happy marriage to Steve, as she told Hello! that the couple spend all their free time together.
Speaking on the couple’s easygoing romance, Lorraine said: “We go for a pub lunch at the weekend.”
They previously relocated from Scotland to be nearer Lorraine’s work in London.
