John Lennon’s son was obsessed with a classic science fiction film

During a 2006 interview with New York magazine, Sean revealed he watched a lot of television as a child. He said his television functioned as his babysitter. Sean revealed he viewed Walt Disney’s Bambi and The Beatles‘ movie Yellow Submarine repeatedly as a youngster. He also watched a classic French film over and over.

“Or I’d watch this movie called La Planète Sauvage, this French animated sci-fi movie,” he recalled. La Planète Sauvage, also known as Fantastic Planet, is about a planet where large blue aliens keep humans as pets. “I’d watch it 10 times in a row, and somehow no one really cared enough to stop me from doing that.”

‘La Planète Sauvage’ influenced a game John Lennon played with Sean Ono Lennon

Sean said La Planète Sauvage was connected to a game he would play with John. “My dad and I used to play this game where he would scribble something nonsensical on a piece of paper and I would have to turn it into something by drawing on it,” Sean revealed. Subsequently, Sean would make a scribble and John would have to turn it into a drawing.

The game was “monumental” to Sean when he was a child. He still plays the game when he spends time with children. Sean said he often draws alien landscapes from La Planète Sauvage when he plays it.

La Planète Sauvage might not be as famous as Bambi or Yellow Submarine, but it had an impact on Sean nonetheless.
