I’m A Celeb’s Ian Wright shares snap of smashed car after crash and urges fans to ‘be careful’

I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! favourite Ian Wright took to Twitter to share that he had been involved in a car accident on his way to the BBC studios to record Match of the Day.

The football legend, 58, shared a selfie as he grinned into the camera wrapped up in a black puffer coat and was wearing a flat cap covered by his hoodie.

The star’s car could be seen behind him badly smashed from the incident and emergency teams were attending to it.

Ian wrote: “Not a straightforward trip up for @BBCMOTD! Thankfully nobody was hurt. Be careful out there, lots of water on the road. Thank you to my amazing driver Jay and the brilliant emergency services. See you tonight.”

Fans flocked to the post to send their good wishes.

One wrote: “Happy to see you an your driver are ok, on the M6 on your way to Anfeild?”

Another penned: “Even with the worst luck, he manages to put a smile on his face! Love the bloke.”

While a third shared: “So it was you holding us up… all jokes aside glad you’re okay uncle Ian, see you on the TV tonight.”

Ian’s Match of the Day fellow pundit Alan Shearer also took to the post with a cheeky comment.

He said: “Jeez. And you made it in time to see the toon score"

This isn’t the first time the former Arsenal footballer has faced problems while appearing on TV.

Back in December Ian was forced to leave the studios in the middle of presenting ITV's FA Cup coverage after learning that his mum sadly passed away.

He received the tragic news while teams Plymouth Argyle and Rochdale were battling it out on the field, exiting the ITV show at half time.

Appearing his usual cheery self before hearing the news, Ian’s sudden departure was explained by host Mark Pougatch after returning from the break.

"Ian, I'm afraid is not, a family bereavement, so he has gone to where he is most needed – with his family,” said Mark, who appeared on the coverage with ex-Rochdale striker Grant Holt.
