Following Piers Morgan’s exit from Good Morning Britain, various presenters such as Richard Madeley and Ben Shephard have stepped in as Susanna Reid’s co-host. One television star you won’t be seeing on the show anytime soon however is 61-year-old Jeremy Clarkson.
The Grand Tour star said he simply has “better things to do” than confront politicians on the morning show, which Piers often did.
Speaking to press including Express.co.uk, he said of the potential slot: “I’ve already got three newspaper columns, Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?, The Grand Tour, Drivetime, farm shop and running my own farm.
“So, I think I’m a bit too busy.
“I get up in the morning to do some trenching, not whatever it’s called… Good Morning Britain.
“No, I’ve got better things to do first thing in the morning than sit on a sofa while a politician lies to me.”
Piers left the show after sparking over 57,000 Ofcom complaints about his opinion on Meghan Markle.
He sparked controversy after saying he didn’t believe a word Prince Harry’s wife said in her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
In their chat, the Duchess of Sussex said she felt suicidal during her time in the Royal Family and also claimed an unnamed member of the palace had concerns about their son Archie’s skin colour.
The following day, Susanna addressed the nation to confirm Piers had left the show.
He later said he refused to apologise for his opinion and hadn’t changed his views on the matter.
In April, ITV’s director of television Kevin Lygo said the show will continue to have a “roster of presenters” until they “feel what the right thing is to do”.
Piers has since been linked to Andrew Neil’s new venture GB News, however a final decision hasn’t been confirmed.

Elsewhere, Jeremy, Richard Hammond and James May are back with new episodes of The Grand Tour.
Filming for the fan favourite show had been put on hold, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
This time, the trio stayed closer to home in Scotland.
Along the way, Jeremy and co caused chaos on the ancient streets of Edinburgh, enjoy a hilarious, tyre torturing, high octane showdown on the racetrack.
They also find themselves homeless in the Highlands after a series of housing-based catastrophes.
As usual, Jeremy and Richard humorously pranked James by filling up his caravan with water, leaving him drenched.
Addressing the pair’s wind-ups, James joked he will get his revenge once they’ve all retired.
He said: “I’m just not interested in retaliation and revenge is a dish that should be served cold anyway.
“[But] I might do it long after we’ve all retired. I might go and burn down Richard Hammond’s Lake District house or something.”
The Grand Tour Presents: Lochdown will launch Friday 30th July on Amazon Prime Video.
