Gemma Collins is reportedly set to open up on her alleged struggles with self-harming in an upcoming hard-hitting new Channel 4 documentary.
The 40 year old, who recently shared a passionate kiss with her boyfriend Rami Hawash in a pool after reconciling, is said to have been working with the TV channel and charity Mind to raise awareness around the topic in Gemma Collins: Self Harm & Me.
According to The Sun Online, the footage will allegedly show the former TOWIE star speaking to young people about their experiences while also looking into her own past and how she dealt with it.
A source told the publication that the new film will come out later in 2021 as "rates of self-harm have soared by 70 per cent in the past decade, with a third of 16 to 25 year old's saying they have self-harmed at some point."
The insider went on to explain that she's never opened up on her own experience but is of the opinion that her platform should be used to raise awareness and "ultimately help others".
“This is a side to Gemma rarely seen by anyone outside of her inner circle and is deeply personal," they said. “However she feels by speaking out and telling her story, she will help others to reach out and talk to someone before it’s too late.”
Channel 4's commissioning editor, Lee Murray, described the reality star as "brave" and praised her over her courage to speak up on something so personal.
While mental health charity Mind told the publication that her documentary will "encourage others" to open up on their own experiences.
OK! Online has approached both Gemma's representatives and Channel 4 for further comment.

However, a source exclusively told OK! Gemma is divided over her desire to become a mum due to her upcoming work commitments.
The source said: “She's torn over baby dreams as she's currently lining up a ton of exciting TV projects that she'd have to fully commit to.
“It's got her in two minds. She blows hot and cold on the idea of a baby.”
