Fern Britton Interviews Prime Minister Gordon Brown
Fern Britton has addressed whether a return to daytime is on the cards.
The presenter was questioned on the possibility of a new role just weeks after her former This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield left the programme and ITV.
The 65-year-old said her time on the magazine show was “marvellous” but she doesn’t want to “look back” now.
The mother-of-four left the series in 2009 after fronting it for more than a decade.
Speaking in a new interview with Good Housekeeping, Fern said she would not be making a comeback.

When asked about the possibility of returning to daytime TV, she commented: “I don’t think I’d be able to turn the clock back.
“It wouldn’t work that way.”
Fern continued: “My time at This Morning was marvellous and I adored the 10 years I was there, but I feel you should never look back.”
She was a regular on the hit show from 1999, having guest presented regularly for the previous six years.
The star became the main host in 2002 alongside John Leslie, and later Phillip, 61.

The latter had been a regular fixture on the famous sofa for a staggering 20 years.
However, last month he quit after admitting an affair with a younger, male colleague.
Fern previously said of her own exit: “I began not to enjoy it so much and the morning I resigned, I didn’t know I was going to resign.”
Continuing on The Ray D’Arcy Show in 2020, she said: “Something happened and I thought, ‘That’s it really,’ and I walked away and resigned.”
Fern added: “There was also a persistent rumour that I left because Phillip was being paid more than me and I always say to people, ‘Why would I leave a show to go to nothing if I was worried about money?'”
During her candid chat, the author went on to discuss entering a “new phase of life”.
She said: “My children are grown-up and I’m no longer married, and it’s as if this whole other world has opened up.
“I never thought this would happen; I didn’t expect to be 65 and single and really relaxed.”
Fern and her second husband Phil Vickery, who still appears on This Morning, split in 2020.
The August 2023 issue of Good Housekeeping is now on sale.
