Fall Out Boy recently released “Heartbreak Feels So Good,” a song from their upcoming eighth studio album, So Much (For) Stardust, due out on March 24.
“Heartbreak Feels So Good” is the second offering from the forthcoming album following “Love From the Other Side.” The band’s last album was Mania, which arrived in 2018.
“We could cry a little/ Cry a lot/ But don’t stop dancing/ Don’t dare stop,” sings frontman Patrick Stump. “We’ll cry later or cry now/ You know it’s heartbreak/ We could dance our tears away/ Emancipate ourselves/ We’ll cry later or cry now but baby/ Heartbreak feels so good.”
Whitey McConnaughy directed the accompanying video for “Heartbreak Feels So Good.” The band said they decided to film a prank for the visual, but that “didn’t exactly go as planned.”
In the clip, the band is seen attempting to stage a kidnapping of Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo. “You’re gonna jump out of the van and grab me or something?” Cuomo asks Pete Wentz, confirming their plan with deep uncertainty. “I am not really sure about this.”
And then, when their schemed is uncovered, the band ends up in an alley fighting a motorcycle gang before making their great escape, destroying parts of a street festival in their rush to get back on track in time for their concert later that night.
Then, on finding the stadium empty, the band phone Joe Trohman and realize “The show is next weekend.”
