Escape to the Chateau: Dick and Angel recount filming final episode
Dick and Angel Strawbridge have taken to Instagram to share positive reviews of Escape To The Chateau as well as their wedding business, after it was announced that Channel 4 would no longer be working with the couple.
Dick, 63 and Angel, 45, have fronted the show Escape To The Chateau for the broadcaster since 2016.
The show followed the pair’s complete renovation of the 19th-century Chateau de la Motte-Husson in Martigné-sur-Mayenne, France.
The once derelict property, which boasts 45 rooms, hadn’t been lived in for 40 years before Dick and Angel purchased it for just £280,000. It’s now been restored to its former glory and is the Strawbridge family home as well as a dream wedding venue for eager fans of the show.
The series has also enjoyed two popular spin-offs fronted by the creative couple; Escape to the Chateau DIY and Escape to the Chateau Make Do And Mend.
But news from Channel 4 last week signalled the end of their working relationship with the broadcaster.
A spokesperson for Channel 4 confirmed the news, telling Express.co.uk: “Following a review, we have decided not to work with Dick and Angel on any new productions in the future.”
Two Rivers Media also added: “We can confirm that we will no longer work with Dick and Angel and cannot comment further at the moment.”

Dick and Angel, who share the Chateau with their two children Arthur, nine, and Dorothy, eight, haven’t formally commented on the statement released.
But they have continued to share reviews of the beloved programme via Instagram and give fans a sneak peek at the first wedding held on the property this year in view of their 474,000 followers.
The Instagram reel, which is featured on their home page, shows the bridal party all singing and dancing before the ceremony.
One fan reacted to the video saying: “We will miss watching your beautiful family growing up and all the lovely changes to your home. So we have just watched our DVDs again from start to finish. Thank you for sharing your lives with us. Sending you all lots of uk love xx,” followed by a blowing a kiss and heart emoji.
Jo Greenfield, a wedding photographer based in the Lake District, also posted her experience of shooting a wedding at the luxurious venue, which was re-shared by the couple on their escape_to_the_chateau account.
In her story Jo exclaimed: “I’ll never get over this weekend. Just how we were treated by Dick and Angel, the staff, the location and, of course, the absolutely amazing Richard and Julie. We are on our way to the Eurotunnel with full hearts. (And grenadine and cinder courtesy of Angel).”(sic)
A recent post by the_chateau_tv and escape_to_the_chateau showed a close-up image of the couple’s wedding celebration with the caption: “Still on a high after the first wedding of the season! This really is the best job in the world. Huge congratulations to the happy couple Julie & Richard!”
The image has gathered hundreds of comments, all supporting the couple and sharing how they’ll miss them being on television.
