EastEnders’ Melissa Suffield rushes son, 2, to hospital for third time in two weeks

Melissa Suffield’s two year old son River was rushed to hospital for a third time yesterday after the youngster contracted a virus.

Taking to Instagram to update fans on her son, Melissa shared a snap of River sitting on a hospital bed merrily eating a biscuit.

The former EastEnders star wrote alongside the snap: “We ended up in an ambulance again after a 2am 111 call. Back to A&E AGAIN. That’s 3 visits in the last 16 days.”

Melissa, 29, went on: “Given 3 loads of nebuliser (he was not a fan) and some meds and he perked right up. Very much enjoyed having a biscuit in bed and making a friend who he called Baby, even though she was older than him.

“Have been sent home with inhalers to wean from the various nebulisers and some more meds.”

The mum-of-one went on to encourage people to “trust your instincts” as A&E was “absolutely where [River] needed to be”.

She went on to confirm that he had a “nasty virus” and that she hopes it passes quickly.

“I’m not not up for a 4th visit next week but more than anything, just pleased he’s better again,” Melissa concluded.

Melissa’s dash to hospital with River comes after the 29 year old had to rush for medical assistance herself over the summer after a painful ankle injury at home.

Melissa, who is best known for playing Lucy Beale in EastEnders, shared the news with fans on Instagram as she made the frantic trip to A&E to receive treatment after tripping over one of River's toys.

Sharing the story of her injury with fans on Instagram, the actress first updated fans on Sunday 17 July about what had happened as she wrote: ”I stepped into the kitchen and slipped on one of River's toys and have BUSTED my ankle.”

She then went on to add that her local urgent care centre didn’t have X-ray facilities at the weekend and no taxis were available to take her to a bigger unit.

She then concluded: ”So I'm now very excited to spend the heatwave in a minor injuries unit on a Monday morning if it's no better tomorrow.”

Unfortunately for Melissa, her ankle still hadn’t improved by Monday morning and she was forced to head to A&E for treatment.

She’s thought to have since recovered from the ordeal.
