In 2017, Dawn French, 64, spoke about her split from actor and comic Lenny Henry, 63, and revealed how she was coping. She said the divorce had left her feeling “still a bit broken” in an unearthed chat.
French and Henry announced they were separating in April 2010 after 25 years of marriage.
Their divorce was finalised later that year.
In an unearthed interview, French revealed the extent of her heartbreak and how she had “grieved” over the relationship, despite marrying charity executive Mark Bignell in 2013 – after dating for a year.
The Vicar of Dibley star told The Mirror in 2017 that she was still “a bit broken”.
She added: “I have mended myself. I have seen what happens if you stay broken.
“When I was single I found my new self. But I think it is OK to grieve over a relationship.”
She added: “I am enjoying the place I’m in. I realise I’m right there in autumn and I can’t see the point in resisting it.
“This is what 60 looks like.”
These comments came ahead of her milestone 60th birthday.
French and Henry have remained friends even after their divorce.
Since then, French has gone through a “grim” health ordeal.
Several years ago, a cancer scare resulted in her losing seven stone in weight, she recently shared.

She described visiting her doctor in her 2014 one-woman show.
She said: “All kinds of hell [was] kicking off in here, where I keep my lady plumbing.
“I eventually went to hospital, and my doc was so convinced I had uterine cancer, that he ordered a second biopsy to be sure, when the first one was clear.”
Uterine cancer is cancer that affects the womb, specifically starting in the endometrium.
French consented to have a hysterectomy, which is one of the main treatments for the disease.
She said: “Even before the result of the second one, I decided to be done with my old enemy, my defunct reproductive stuff. It was curtailing my life.”
French decided to lose weight in order to aid recovery and help lower risks during the procedure.
French said: “So my womb and I parted company. Goodbye.
“When I was due to have my hysterectomy the doc told me that if I could lose some weight before the op, they would be able to do it via ‘key-hole’, and I would recover in three weeks or so.”
