Loose Women presenter Carol McGiffin, 61, has explained that seemingly labelling Lorraine Kelly, 62, as “revolting” was due to an unfortunate Twitter error on her part. It comes after Carol caused a stir with the now-deleted tweet, which was shared with her 456,000 followers.

She appeared to slam celebrities including Piers Morgan, Karren Brady and Dr Hilary Jones, branding them “revolting human beings”.

While replying to a tweet about the stars, Carol posted: “Profiting from other people’s misfortune. Msm [mainstream media] mercenaries.

“I’d go further than that. They are revolting human beings and that’s being generous.”

It wasn’t long before Carol was being called out social media users after fans noticed ITV presenter Lorraine was in the line-up.

The Loose Women panellist has now broken her silence on the reason why she deleted the post from her Twitter page.

Carol admitted removing the tweet after an error was flagged to her.

She told The Mirror in a statement: “Unfortunately I retweeted it without looking at the whole picture.

“I didn’t see the bottom row and I deleted it as soon as I saw lovely Lorraine who has no place in that rogues gallery.”

Carol’s decision to clarify her friendship with the Scottish star comes after it was reported her now-deleted tweet “ruffled feathers” behind-the-scenes at ITV.

“Carol is very outspoken and believes in freedom of speech, but it has ruffled a few feathers at ITV,” a source claimed to OK! Magazine.

Carol previously rowed with her former ITV colleague Piers back in August.

The presenter labelled the ex-Good Morning Britain host “a monster”.

However, Piers was quick to hit back by calling Carol an “irrelevant has-been” on Twitter.

While sharing an article about their row at the time, the star posted a series of laughing emojis and declared: “I don’t have feuds with irrelevant has-beens.”

Carol reignited their spat earlier that same week when she admitted to “loathing” Piers in her column in Best magazine.

She wrote: “I’m loathing Piers Morgan. It pains me even to write his name.

“This hypocritical monster continues to preach, smear, defame, demonise, insult everyone who doesn’t agree with him or do as he says, while he continues to do as he pleases.

“I hope he keeps it up because judging by the feedback he’s getting in comments and on social media, the more he lectures, the more people fight against it all.”

Piers previously blocked Carol on Twitter in 2020 when she described his stance on the COVID-19 pandemic “hysterical bulls**t”.
