Buckingham Palace called ‘most beautiful place in the world’ in snow-covered pics

Royal snowmen are crying out to be made over at Buckingham Palace, which received a fluffy thick carpeting over the weekend.

While the England national team played out their quarter-final World Cup match against the French in Qatar – losing to an Olivier Giroud header in the last 12 minutes – those of us who remained in the country were feeling the effects of a freezing, snowy deluge, and still are.

Showing off the palace grounds on Instagram today, a gallery of Narnia-like pictures was captioned with two snowflake emojis.

"The most beautiful place in the world", one follower declared, before two more commented: "Beautiful, it's a white Christmas! Merry Christmas to us all!" and "Very beautiful pictures".

"Really beautiful I love it", added a fourth social media user, while more awestruck replies read: "Winter wonderland", "What a stunning winter scene", "What a rare sight indeed", "Oh to be making snowmen there! #fieldofdreams" and "The most beautiful pics! Thank you for sharing them. What glorious snow scenes!"

In other news, it was reported back in October that King Charles III has no intention of moving into Buckingham Palace and will continue to reside at Clarence House with his wife Camilla, Queen Consort.

The property – boasting 775 rooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms – is currently in the midst of a colossal restoration and repair job, said to be costing £369 million, with work expected to last for another five years.

A source told The Sunday Times: "I know he is no fan of 'the big house', as he calls the palace. He doesn’t see it as a viable future home or a house that’s fit for purpose in the modern world. He feels that its upkeep, both from a cost and environmental perspective, is not sustainable."

A second royal insider suggested the decision is also in the hands of Camilla, 75, who's not especially eager to move there.

"It is certainly true that Camilla doesn't want to live at Buckingham Palace," they revealed, while a spokesperson for the property confirmed: "It is expected that the necessary works will be completed for Their Majesties to take up residence in 2027.

"In the interim period, the Palace will be fully utilised for official business wherever practicable."

Whilst these renovations play out, Buckingham Palace will still be used as a place for the King, 74, to undertake his official duties.

His mother Queen Elizabeth II sadly passed away at the age of 96 this September, having served in the head position for 70 years.
