Britney Spears is in focus again this week, after her split from husband Sam Asghari was made public – with numerous allegations against coming to light. And now, the pop princess is said to be worried that her ex will try to take their two dogs from her.
Back in 2021, Sam gifted his then-wife a Doberman name Porsha, before the duo adopted an Australian Shepherd, Sawyer, in February. But Britney is allegedly not willing to share the pups and is reportedly 'refusing' to let him "seize custody" of the two.
The split between Britney and Sam was revealed on Wednesday, 16 August, with Sam officially filing for divorce shortly after, before confirming the news on his Instagram just one day later.
On the dog battle, an insider told the Daily Mail, "Regarding [Britney and Sam's shared] property, the most difficult part of dividing any assets will be their two dogs. But Sam gave Porsha to Britney as a present and she was the one who wanted to adopt Sawyer when they were in Maui."
OK! has reached out to Britney's representatives for comment.
The couple are said to have an 'iron clad' prenup, which Sam signed ahead of their wedding in June 2022 and after six years together, keeps Britney's assets as separate property, not marital assets.
An apparent 'nuclear row' is said to have caused them to call time on the relationship, with Sam reportedly accusing Britney of cheating on him with a staffer. It is unknown whether the allegations are true.
Britney confirmed the split on her own social media two days after Sam, sharing a lengthy statement to her 42.1M followers as she began, “As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together …”
In the heartfelt caption, Britney revealed that six years is a “long time to be with someone” and that she is “a little shocked”, however, discusses that she is “not here to explain” as it is “nobody’s business”.
The Oops!…I Did It Again singer continued: “But, I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly !!! In some sort of telepathic way I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends and I thank you !!!”
“I’ve been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it’s far from reality and I think we all know that !!!”
Britney, who was famously under a conservatorship for 13 years, explained she would “love to show” her “emotions and tears” on how she really feels, but said she feels like she had to “hide” her “weaknesses”.
“If I wasn’t my dad’s strong soldier, I would be sent away to places to get fixed by doctors !!! But that’s when I needed family the most !!! You’re supposed to be loved unconditionally … not under conditions !!!!”
The singer finished the statement and penned: “So I will be as strong as I can and do my best !!! And I’m actually doing pretty damn good !!! Anyways have a good day and don’t forget to smile !!!”
