BBC Strictly’s Angela Rippon breaks silence on show exit after Kai sheds tear

Strictly: Angela Rippon is eliminated from the show

Angela Rippon broke her silence after she was the latest celebrity to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing last night.

The broadcaster, 79, posted a lengthy statement on Instagram where she expressed her immense pride for making it to Blackpool week.

Angela and her pro partner Kai Widdrington found themselves in the bottom two for another week and faced the dreaded dance-off against EastEnders star Bobby Brazier.

She captioned the video: “Well, what an adventure it has been. I’m not sure I have the words quite yet to describe just how incredible Strictly is but I am so proud to have made it to Blackpool week.

“Thank you all so much for your kind messages, comments and support over the past couple of months.

“It means the world to @kaiwidd and myself that so many of you have loved watching us dance and have voted for us each week.

“This is not the end of my Strictly journey as I will be joining the national tour @strictlycomedancinglive in the new year and I hope to meet as many of you as I can out on the road. But for now, it’s goodbye and thank you all once again.”

She accompanied the post with a candid video as she addressed her time on Strictly which she described as one of the most “challenging and terrifying” experiences, before she thanked the public for their outpouring of support.

Her professional partner Kai replied in the comments: “You’re the best @theangelarippon.”

Angela was the latest contestant to be eliminated and during their farewell speech, Kai was visibly emotional and shed a tear.

Speaking about her exit, Angela told Tess Daly: “I have to tell you that the last nine weeks have probably been the most terrifying, the most fantastic, the most glorious, the most joyful that I have spent for a very long time in my profession.

“I have had the time of my life. People keep making reference to the fact that I presented Come Dancing, but that was forty years ago, that was a different time! He [Kai] wasn’t even born then!

“But actually being this side of the competition, this side of the programme has been really an eye opener for me in so many different ways.”

Strictly Come Dancing returns this Saturday on BBC One.
